Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,379 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On November 8 at Telfair State Prison, a person was spotted on the facility grounds. A search of the area found multiple packages containing cell phones, charging cords, charging bases, rolling paper, tobacco, marijuana and gloves. Civilian Jadakiss Winfrey was arrested by Telfair County Sheriff's Office and was transported to Telfair County jail. 

On November 5 at Calhoun State Prison, Cadet Sequoia Carroll was found with a napkin that tested positive for methamphetamine and residue from methamphetamine was found in her vehicle. Cadet Carroll was arrested and transported to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.

On November 4 at Calhoun State Prison, an unidentified individual was spotted running into the facilities wood-line. A further search found a vehicle near the facility. The driver was identified as Matthew Johnson Jr and he was found with methamphetamine and a firearm. Johnson was arrested and transported to the Calhoun County Jail.
