Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,143 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the stat

On November 4 at Hays State Prison, visitor Thomas Roberts was observed attempting to reach into his sock.  After a search of his person, security staff discovered 101.1 grams of methamphetamines and 23.04 grams of tobacco. Visitor Roberts was arrested by the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office.

On November 4 at Calhoun State Prison, during a canine search the dog alerted on visitor Iguana Mills vehicle. Security staff discovered 2.5 grams of marijuana and a handgun with a scratched off serial number in the vehicle.  Visitor Mills was arrested by Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and transported to Calhoun County Jail.

On November 4 at Calhoun State Prison, during a canine search the dog alerted on visitor Takevian Jackson vehicle. Security staff discovered .08 grams of marijuana. Visitor Jackson was arrested by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and transported to Calhoun County Jail.

On November 4 at Calhoun State Prison, during a canine search the dog alerted on visitor Quantaius Ellis’ vehicle.  The vehicle was searched, and security staff discovered .9 grams of marijuana.  Visitor Ellis was arrested by Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and transported to Calhoun County Jail.

On November 4 at Dodge State Prison, during a canine search the dog alerted on visitor Linda Webber’ vehicle.  Upon searching the vehicle security staff discovered 1.55 grams of marijuana in her vehicle. Visitor Webber was arrested by Dodge County Sheriff’s Office and transported to Dodge County Jail. 

On November 4 at Dodge State Prison, during a canine search the dog altered on visitor Ashley Lawood’s vehicle.  The vehicle was searched, and security staff discovered 5.3 grams of marijuana.  Visitor Lawood was arrested by Dodge County Sheriff’s Office and transported to Dodge County Jail. 

On October 30 at Autry State Prison, the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office observed an unidentified vehicle near the facility. After a search of the vehicle, the sheriff’s office discovered an unknown amount of marijuana, 25 bundles of tobacco, an unknown amount of cell phones and an unknown number of chargers wrapped in black tape. Civilians Jamal Smith and Deontay Pullen were arrested by the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office.
