Contraband Arrests at Dooly State Prison and Smith State Prison

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,130 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On October 16 at Dooly State Prison, Officer Roland Johnson was arrested for attempting to introduce contraband to the facility by the Dooly County Sheriff’s Officer. After conducting a search, security staff discovered 4 cellphones and 2 cellphone chargers.

On October 21 at Smith State Prison, during a search of the parking area, security staff discovered a small amount of marijuana and a stolen firearm. Civilian Shajuna Sandal and William Miller were arrested by the Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office.

On October 21 at Smith State Prison, during a search of the parking area, security staff discovered THC gummies. Visitor Kimberly Hester was arrested by the Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office.

On October 21 at Smith State Prison, during a search of the parking area, security staff discovered 4 bundles wrapped with black tape and condoms. The bundles contained 176.1 grams of methamphetamines and 95.5 grams of marijuana. Visitor Sharri Odaniel was arrested by the Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office.
