Contraband Arrests at Baldwin State Prison and Telfair State Prison

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,093 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On August 12 at Baldwin State Prison, visitor Veronica Goldwire was searched after visitation and security staff discovered contraband consisting of 144 grams of marijuana on her person.  Visitor Goldwire confessed to bringing in the contraband inside of the facility and was placed under arrest by Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. 

On August 12 at Telfair State Prison, security staff detected a strong odor of marijuana coming form visitor Abril Lopez.  Visitor Lopez admitted to having contraband on her person, which consisted of 48 grams of marijuana.  She was arrested by Telfair County Sheriff’s Office.
