Katrina Sutton Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. FORSYTH, Ga. – Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Katrina Sutton as Deputy Director of Human Resources (HR) effective November 16, 2023. As Deputy Director, Sutton will assist the Director of Human Resources and provide guidance to Central Human Resources staff and Field Human Resources staff while also managing staff in Central Human Resources.

“Katrina has been a valuable team player while upholding the GDC mission during her 29-year career with the agency,” said Commissioner Oliver. “I am confident she will excel as she takes on her new leadership role as Deputy Director.”

Sutton began her career with GDC in 1994 as a General Clerk II at Wilcox State Prison. In 2010, she was promoted to HR Technician II in the Transactions Unit with Central HR and was promoted to Personnel Analyst in the HR Compliance Unit at the end of 2010. In 2013, Sutton was promoted to supervisor over the Transaction’s Unit, and in 2015, she was promoted to regional HR manager for the Southwest Region. In 2022, she was promoted to Central Human Resources Operations Manager, where she currently serves.

Sutton earned a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Georgia Southern University. During her time with the department, she received certifications in basic management training, advanced management training, and the professional management program through Columbus State University.
