Jermaine White Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Jermaine White, Warden at Telfair State Prison (SP), to Southwest Regional Director, effective July 1, 2023.  White will oversee the daily operations of 14 state facilities in the Southwest Region.

“With more than 20 years of correctional experience, Jermaine has demonstrated outstanding leadership and commitment to carrying out our mission,” said Commissioner Oliver. “We are confident that, in this new role he will continue to display integrity and accountability, just as he has done in the past”

White began his career with the GDC in 2002 as a Correctional Officer at Wilcox SP. He rose through the ranks from Correctional Officer to Sergeant and in 2009, he was promoted to Lieutenant. In 2010, he became a Probation Surveillance Officer at the Cordele Probation Office and was promoted to Probation Officer at the Fitzgerald Probation Office in 2012 where he served as the Assistant Probation Tactical Squad Commander of the Southwest Area. In 2015, he was promoted to Deputy Warden of Security at Lee SP and to Superintendent at the Albany Transitional Center in 2017.In 2018, he was promoted to Warden at Washington SP and in 2020 he was reassigned to Warden at Telfair SP where he currently serves.

White holds an associate degree in law enforcement from Thomas University, a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Thomas University and a master's degree in public administration from Columbus State University. He is a sworn member of the Alpha Phi Sigma National Criminal Justice Honor Society.  His departmental training consists of: Basic Probation Officer Training (BPOT); Basic Management Training (BMT); Professional Management Program (PMP); Advanced Management Training (AMT); Deputy Wardens Academy; Corrections Leadership Institute (CLI); Wardens Pre-Command; Post Instructor Training and the Wardens Exchange Program.
