Pierre Fortune Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Timothy C. Ward announced the promotion of Pierre Fortune to Assistant Superintendent at Atlanta Transitional Center (TC) effective December 1, 2022. As Assistant Superintendent, Fortune will be responsible for assisting the Superintendent with the daily operations of the facility, overseeing staff, and supervising approximately 275 male residents.

"Fortune has shown exceptional leadership qualities in each position he has held with the agency," said Commissioner Timothy C. Ward. "We are confident he will continue to excel in his new position as Assistant Superintendent."

Fortune began his career in 2005 as a Correctional Officer at Burruss Correctional Training Center. In 2011, he was promoted to Sergeant at Clayton TC and transferred to Atlanta TC in 2013. In 2019, he was promoted to Chief of Security at Atlanta TC, where he currently serves.  

Fortune is pursuing his degree in Criminal Justice and has previously attended Gordon State College. His departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Sergeants Academy, Basic Management, Supervision I, II, and III, Management Training, Lieutenants Academy, and Chief of Security Training.
