Alton Mobley Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Timothy C. Ward announced the promotion of Alton Mobley to Deputy Warden of Security at Georgia State Prison (SP) effective October 1, 2021. As deputy warden of security, Mobley will be responsible for overseeing security staff members and over 1,031 close-security male offenders.

“Mobley has shown exceptional leadership qualities in each position he has held,” said Commissioner Timothy C. Ward. “We are confident in his leadership and commitment to the safe and secure operations of GSP.”

Mobley began his career with the GDC in 1999 as a correctional officer at Georgia SP.  During his tenure, he was promoted through the ranks of Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Captain.  In 2017, he was promoted to Unit Manager at Rogers SP, and in 2019, he was promoted to Deputy Warden of Security at Autry SP, where he currently serves. 

Mobley has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training, Sergeants Academy, Supervision I, II and III, Management I, II and III, Deputy Wardens Academy, and the Professional Management Program through Columbus State University.
