Phillips TC Partners with Goodwill of North GA & Lanier Tech

FORSYTH, Ga. – On November 17, five detainees graduated from the Welding Program at Phillips Transitional Center (TC) in Buford, Ga. Following the graduation, one detainee returned to society.

“I am grateful to Goodwill of North Georgia and Lanier Technical College for helping to make this program a success,” said Commissioner Homer Bryson. “These detainees will now leave our custody with a specialized, high-demand skill.”

The five detainees who participated in the 12-week program attended soft skills training at Goodwill of North Georgia’s Career Center every Friday, and participated in hands on welding training at Lanier Technical College every Saturday.

Upon completion, the residents received a Gas Metal Arc Welding Certificate from Lanier Technical College and a Career Readiness Certificate from Goodwill of North Georgia.
