Paul Locke Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Homer Bryson announced the promotion of Paul Locke from Communications Center Special Projects Manager in Central Office to Assistant Superintendent of Coastal Transitional Center effective December 1, 2015. As Assistant Superintendent, Locke will be responsible for assisting the Superintendent with the daily operations of the facility and overseeing 29 staff and 262 minimum-security male offenders.

“In his 22 years, Paul has developed a wide range of experience with the Georgia Department of Corrections which will be of great benefit to the staff and residents of Coastal Transitional Center,” said Commissioner Bryson. “We are confident that he will succeed in his new position as Assistant Superintendent.”

Locke began his career with the Department in 1993 as a Correctional Officer at Valdosta State Prison. During his 22-year career, Locke served as a Correctional Officer, Senior Drill Instructor of the Intensive Therapeutic Program, Adjunct Instructor, Training Lieutenant of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Training Major of Special Operations, and Operations Support Manager. His last assignment prior to his recent promotion, Locke served as the Manager of Special Projects in the Communications Center.

Locke is currently pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice. His departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Management Training, Advanced Management Training, and Professional Management Program.

The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 52,000 state prisoners. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 10,500 employees.
