Pamela Wiggins Reassigned

ForsythGeorgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Brian Owens announced the reassignment of Pamela Wiggins as Superintendent of Metro Transitional Center effective October 16, 2013. The facility is located in Atlanta, Georgia. As Superintendent, Wiggins will be responsible for overseeing 41 staff members and 235 minimum security female offenders.

"Pamela has 14 years of dedicated service to the Department," said Commissioner Owens. "She is a proven leader and I am confident her knowledge and experience will benefit Metro Transitional Center."

Wiggins began her career with the Department in 1999 as a Counselor at Jimmy Helms Diversion/Transitional Center. In 2008, she was promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Helms and Metro Transitional Centers. Wiggins was promoted to Superintendent in 2010 at Clayton Transitional Center, where she most recently served.

Wiggins received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Hawaii Pacific University and a Master's degree in Public Administration from Columbus State University. She completed Basic Management Training, Basic Correctional Officer Training, Pre-Command and Corrections Leadership Institute.

The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 60,000 state prisoners and more than 160,000 probationers. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 12,000 employees.
