Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons

On August 3 at Telfair SP,  a drone was observed flying over a building. Telfair County Sheriff's Office and GDC Canine Unit were notified; however, were unable to locate any contraband or suspects. Later in the evening, Telfair County Sheriff's Office conducted a stop of 2 vehicles occupied by Civilians Easter Prrneli, Kendall Lawrence and Jeffrey Young. A search of the vehicle was conducted, and 1 drone, 12 drone batteries, and 5 cellphones were found. The GDC Canine Unit apprehended a fourth civilian identified as Dexter Johnson. All were transported to Telfair County Jail.

 

On August 3 at Hancock SP,  GDC Canine Unit observed 3 suspects near the facility. Hancock County Sheriff's Office was notified, and a traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle occupied by Civilians Fatoumata Cisse, Andrew Glass and Eugene Wells. A search of the vehicle was conducted, and the following contraband was recovered: 1 drone, 278.7 grams of tobacco, 11.04 grams of marijuana, 12.45 grams of mushrooms, 6 cellphones, 2 cellphone batteries, 10 charging cables, 20 charging blocks, 4 pairs of earbuds and 17 packs of rolling paper. All were transported to Hancock County Jail with pending charges.

 

On August 5 at Smith SP, Officers noticed a suspicious vehicle driving around the facility. Once pulled over, the driver admitted to dropping off two men close to the facility. With the assistance of Glennville Police Department, Officers found the following in the vehicle: Glock 43 Handgun, Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun, 1 Red ETS group 9mm magazine holding, 15-9mm Hollow-point rounds, 1 9mm Luger hollow point bullet, 1 Luger 9mm bullet, 2 zip pouches, 14.03 grams of marijuana, 1 TCL touchscreen phone, 1 Samsung touchscreen phone, 1 Lighter, 1 cigar, 1 scale, 2 prophylactics, 12 mm clear and black hard plastic container, 1 set of earbuds, 1 glass pipe, 1 cell phone charger, 1 bundle clear packaging bags, 2 packs of soap, and 2 - 4 oz bags of loose tobacco.

 

Special Agents and K9 Officers headed to the field where the suspects were believed to have been dropped off and discovered three men lying in the field under thick brush. The men were found with 23 packages in their possession which contained the following: 635 grams of suspected marijuana, 12 packs of cigarettes, 8 packs of cigars, 15 packs of tobacco, 3,900 grams of loose tobacco, 36 charging blocks, 54 charging cords, 63 rolling papers, 22 earbuds, 4 cigar wraps, 7 carbon papers, 4 Ink bottles, 14 tattoo needles, 104 Lighters, 4 pairs of shoes, 3 shirts, 2 pairs of socks, 1 bag, 1 saw blade, 1 pair of sunglasses, 1 bottle of cologne, 1 TV remote, 2 necklaces, 2 medallions, 1 small blade zipper bags, 2 book bags, 2 duffle bags, 2 basketballs (cut open), 1 scale, and 3 prepaid cards.

 

On August 6 at Calhoun SP, Calhoun County Sheriff's Office was patrolling the area, when they came upon a vehicle near the facility. The officers observed the subject in the vehicle, who was identified as Civilian Jose Gomez, with a controller in his hand. The drone was noticed going into the air with a package attached to it. Civilian Gomez was instructed to land the drone and he complied. The package was retrieved and contained the following: 3 cell phones, 2 activation kits, 1 pair of ear buds, 1 pair of air pods, 3 charging cords, 767 grams of tobacco, 2 drones, 4 propellers and 1 black inspire 2 carrying case. Civilian Jose Gomez was arrested and transported to Calhoun County Jail with pending charges.
