Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 2,002 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On June 4 at Coastal State Prison, visitor Brenda Eason was in visitation when staff observed her drop a package while hugging the offender she was visiting. The packaged contained 139 grams of tobacco and 02 sleeves of rolling papers. Visitor Eason was arrested transported to Chatham County.

On May 29 at Baldwin State Prison, a vehicle was spotted parked on a road near the facility. A search found three bundles with the following contraband: 8 chargers, 6 charging blocks, 5 SIM card tools, 7 packs of Bugler rolling paper, 4 flip phones, 8 Stouch screen phones, 1091 grams of tobacco and 160 grams of meth. Civilian Rashad Blackwell was arrested and transported to the Baldwin County Jail.
