Contraband Arrest at Multiple State Prisons

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,935 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On September 25 at Baldwin State Prison, Visitor Indus Yeldell was observed passing a small package to the offender she was visiting. After confirming that the package contained methamphetamine, Visitor Yeldell was arrested and transported to the Baldwin County Jail.

On September 20 at Wilcox State Prison, 4 individuals were spotted near the facility. A search of the area found bags that contained the following contraband: a drone, tobacco, marijuana, razors, cell phones, an apple watch, lighters, and headphones. Justin Joiner, Lamesha Joiner, Bryant Riggins, and Jennifer Asiedu were arrested and transported to Wilcox County Jail.

On September 19 at Rogers State Prison, a bundle of contraband was found near the facility. A search of the grounds found Civilian Carl Perkins with wet clothes, a backpack, and a gun on his person. Civilian Perkins was arrested and transported to the Tattnall County Jail.
