Contraband Arrest at Multiple State Prisons

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,927 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On September 11 at Rogers State Prison, security staff found the following contraband on facility grounds: headphones, electrical tape, doo rags, alcohol, rolling paper, charging blocks, charging cords, lighters, tobacco, marijuana, and cell phones. Tattnall County Sherriff’s Office conducted a stop of a vehicle that was responsible for the contraband drop. Civilian Marquees Berring was arrested and transported to the Tattnall County Jail. 
 
On September 11 at Washington State Prison, a vehicle was spotted parked near the facility. A search found one drone, a handgun and an unknown amount of contraband. Two unidentified individuals were arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail.
