Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,574 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On October 10 at Washington State Prison, a drone was sighted flying over the facility. A search found the following contraband on the roof of the facility: drone, batteries, lighters, charger cords, charging blocks, cellphones, SD card, tape, rolling papers, marijuana, and tobacco. Probationer Tony Brown was found in his vehicle on facility grounds. Probationer Brown was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail.

On October 5 at Coastal State Prison, Officer Schenteria Holley attempted to enter the facility to report for duty when the portal sergeant detected a smell of marijuana. A search found the following contraband on her persons: rolling papers, marijuana, and tobacco. Officer Holley was arrested and transported to the Chatham County Jail.
